Pantry

I have recently decided to embrace the open storage situation in our kitchen. Normally it looks messy stuffed with packets of this and that. Its beginning to look better since I started collecting jars, tupperware etc from op shops (charity shops). I like finding pieces that are an unusual shape but still useful. The good quality 70's stuff are my favorite finds.

I figure if I'm going to be at home being a full time mum I may as well get some pleasure out of making my environment stylish as well as functional.

Another 70's arrangement in the kitchen. I guess the inclination towards this era is a product of growing up in this decade. I also like the associations with feminism/strong women and family values that were prevalent in those days.

Blankie

Baxi has a very special relationship with his 'Blankie'. He fondles the edge whilst sucking his finger when he goes to sleep. During the day the sight of it creates an instant longing and cries of 'key key keeeey' (as in blan - KEY) with outstretched arms. Being united with blankie creates instant comfort as the finger slips in the mouth and relief is felt all round.

i walked into the kitchen the other day to discover this cute scene. B had got himself into the laundry basket in order to get up close and personal with beloved blankie

there are actually 4 blankies. the original was dissected during a night of gastro when soiled quarters needed to be progressively cut off for washing. B loves dragging them round with him and if he had it his way would never be without at least one.

Blankie is usually reserved for bedtime or when he is particularly upset. Its a cute thing to see them together.

Party II

Baxi wore his special gold leather jumpsuit.

Mum mixed 70's and eigthies and Winter looked gorgeous wearing the cleanest available clothes so we didn't run late (will have to make an effort to crank up his look for his party in March which according to him is going to be a dress-up party)

Party

Satch had his 3rd Birthday party on Tuesday. Winter and I made him a big silver 3 necklace card which he proudly wore.

Super cool friend Max looked like a rockstar in his pink sunnies and 70's Safari suit. The boys looked fab together in their retro gear. I felt like the paparazzi snaping away at the cute moments.

The cake moment

The party was at the CERES cafe which is a magical place for kids. Two sandpits, teepees a sunken boat, lots of trees and meandering nooks and crannies for the kids to explore and entertain themselves. It was a fantastic party.

Scallywags

Winter and Satch have been having a ball together this Summer. Their latest thing is to take themselves over to each other's house 'unsupervised' and make themselves at home. They have worked out how to unlatch our front gate. The pic above shows Winter breaking in. Our back door is always open so Satch will often bowl to return a toy or tell me something really important. This ritual tends to start early in the morning so the conversation is often held in the bathroom whilst I am the shower or similar. Winter also takes any opportunity to go and knock on Satch's door. He also likes to check-in with Bec also often showering and particularly likes to say 'Bec I'm hungry'.

These photos were taken on a recent hot evening when the boys went a bit troppo. They egged each other on and put a huge performance on for the neighbours running starkers up and down the street.

They took it in turns to wear the bucket helmet.

Our eighty-something yr old neighbour Silvio loves chatting to the boys and watching their antics.

Guests

We had the super cute crew come to Sorrento to stay. There were 10 of us all together. It was hot and most days were spent in a blur of sunscreen application, hat fetching, sandcastle building, sand removal, toy adjudication (they were all boys so plenty of scraps over the car of the moment), bedtime cajoling, sandwich making (vegemite and avocado was the go), dishes dishes dishes, along with the usual general wiping, wrestling, cuddling etc etc. It was fab to do the kids thing in a communal fashion, they all loved having playmates on tap and attention from adults other than their olds. The parents also loved hanging out doing the daggy beach holiday thing. Anya and Max looking gorgeous in the pic above.

Nick Bec and Satch back from the beach looking picture perfect.

Satch, Winter and Baxter having an icypole moment on the veranda.

So much action and fun was happening that mum regrets she neglected to take enough pictures. Next time we will definitely have a lots more photos rule.
