Splashing II

Week 2 of the rain. To make matters worse the flat next door is renovating and have been jack-hammering (thankfully we have negotiated a 2hr lunch break for Winter's nap). So being indoors is a nightmare.

Today we remedied this by going out with gumboots & a raincoat. We walked through puddles all morning before finding this monster puddle.

Winter was in heaven!

He got soaking wet

I let him carry on splashing back and forth along this wall for a good 20mins or so before heading home. It was a fun morning. Posted by Picasa

Tears

Winter's world fell apart yesterday when I told him he wasn't allowed to bring the piece of timber he was playing with with us on our walk.

Like most toddlers he has developed an extremely strong will and unfortunately I have to spend a large part of our day telling him he can't do what he wants to do. This often results in tears and a constant need for distraction or compromises.

Its hard not to give in to him when he pulls faces like this!

Luckily taking his photo was enough of a distraction to stop a full blown tantrum (thankfully we have only had 2 major ones so far fingers crossed). Posted by Picasa

Splashing

Took the gumboots out for a splashing session today.

Unfortunately gumboots don't splash-proof the whole toddler

Winter would happily get even wetter if he had his way. Posted by Picasa

Phones

Winter loves pretending to use phones. This one has the added bonus of lots of buttons, a change flap, display monitor etc etc. He would like me to hold him here all day whilst he chatted away.

It was raining so we took cover under the phone booth for an extended chat. Posted by Picasa

Lollipops

Its been raining solidly this week which is great for farmers but terrible for toddlers. Yesterday we decided to go to an indoor play center called 'Lollipops'. Winter is full of physical confidence these days so was able to get involved with all the facilities at full pelt. He is growing up so quickly!

Shopping

We went to the local 'supa center' Westfeild at Bondi Junction today. Their are so many shops it makes your head spin. We took refuge in the food court.

zzzzz

Winter is having 1 nap a day now. 2hrs or so in the middle of the day. Its fantastic to have a decent break.

Today Winter woke a little early and then had an extended snooze with daddy on the balcony.

Determined

Climbing remains a favorite activity. Here he has positioned his bean bag chair so he can reach the CD player in his room (buttons = exciting).

I moved the chair out of his room as a saftey pre-caution but he soon worked out how to use a pillow to similar effect.

Toilet Paper

Winter is normally not allowed in the bathroom by himself as I haven't bought a lock yet for the loo. It is the only part of our house he is yet to explore. Today it was raining so to keep him occupied whilst I vacuumed I decided to let him loose.

15 mins later...

I couldn't resist making him a skirt.

Then I remembered that he isn't the only member of the family with a penchant for unravelling toilet paper! (this is a still from a video of a performance I did in 2nd yr at St Martin's) Posted by Picasa

Morning coffee rituals

We are lucky to have a local coffee shop where Winter is made welcome. Rich takes him there every morning before work to get his fix. They have a bucket of toys he can play with and on cold days they don't mind him getting under their feet when we sit indside. He likes to hang around the precipice of the kitchen watching all the activity and endearing himself by dancing, blowing kisses and generally showing off.

The weather has been warming up so today we sat outside.

Super weak coffee for Bongo & Me. Water for Winter & the lizard.

Butter wouldn't melt...!

We generally take turns at sitting at the table & supervising

Procession

Winter insisted on bringing his truck on our walk to the cafe this morning

Rich took front postiton, guiding the truck clear of stairwells, ponds, on-coming traffic etc. I took up the rear bringing the increasingly defunct pusher. Posted by Picasa

Friday Friends

Fridays we look forward to catching up with Anna & Georgia (Anna's work from home day). This week we braved the playground despite the rain. Disaster struck however when Georgia climbed onto the sopping wet slide resulting in sopping wet special sequinned D&G hoodie (dam forgot my clever towel trick). Gallant Winter came to the rescue by relinqueshing his very practical super warm padded vest top and play was resummed.

Luckily super-cute Georgia can carry off the tough sleeve-less sequinned-less look! Posted by Picasa
